Integration activities are divided into strategy-making and Network integration activities.
The strategy-making integration activities are tailored according to the needs of the integration phase (activation, strengthening, consolidation). These activities aim at defining strategy of progressive integration and building up a potential for long lasting integration. The strategy-making activities will be centred on establishing the KMM Virtual Institute (KMM VI), a new organisation underpinned by a legal structure with a clearly defined goal of securing long-term self-sustaining support for European research into knowledge-based multicomponent materials (KMM).
The Network Integration activities are permanent tools defined to achieve integration in the area of education and training, technology transfer, research facilities and equipment as well as Intranet. The KMM-NoE will establish a Competence Centre (CC) as a network of offices integrated by an Intranet system, common databases and catalogues of available knowledge. The signpost mechanism will be determined. The CC will offer European industry support in solving KMM-related problems through a one-stop-office and will initiate the technology transfer from the KMM-NoE.
