The Crakow University of Technology (CUT), in Polish called Politechnika Krakowska im Tadeusza Koscluszki, for nearly 60 years educates young engineers and performs scientific research in basic technological disciplines. The university is composed of seven faculties: Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty of Environmental Engineering Faculty of Applied Physics and Computer Modelling CUT is an autonomous state university. This is due to its academic potential and results in high independence in curricula planning. CUT academic staff is about 1230 (from among about 2190 employees) including 77 professors and 138 associate professors (Ph.D, D.Sc.). Most of them, as well as about 230 ph.D degree students are involved in several research projects. On the national scale the university is ranked between the fifth and seventh position among over twenty universities of technology in the country. Some of the faculties are ranked on higher positions and the faculties of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are among the elite in Poland.
