The Institute of Fundamental Technological Research (IPPT) is one of the biggest Polish research institutes within the structure of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In the Institute 162 highly qualified scientists (22 full professors, 34 associate professors and 90 senior researchers with the Ph.D. degree) are employed. They are carrying out the research in the following disciplines: • theoretical, experimental and computational mechanics of materials, structures and fluids, • acoustoelectronics and medical ultrasound, • physics of continuous media, • polymer physics, • electromagnetic phenomena, • applied information science, • mechatronics and robotics, • ecologically oriented structural engineering.
The Institute coordinates several national and international projects and participates in the 6th Framework Programme (IP, NoE, STREP, CA) in the field of advanced materials and structures. Cooperation with the industry, joint programmes with the research centres in Europe, North America and Japan and involvement in high education programmes are the main directions of the present activity in which fundamental research is supported and combined with application.
IPPT are coordinators of KMM-NoE.
